Question
Answer-C. Calm waters simile
Explanation- The organization is viewed as a large ship crossing a sea to reach a particular destination. The ship’s captain knows the route since he has crossed the same path several times. If there is storm, then the crew has to respond accordingly so that the ship and the inmates travel safely to the destined point. The captain makes the appropriate changes so that the ship is maneuvered to survive the storm and return the ship to the calm waters. Similarly, the management needs to make adjustments in the changes implemented and handle the implementation effectively so that the organization starts functioning as before in the changed working environment. Organizational change is similar to that of a calm water metaphor wherein the change crosses the large sea which is the organization and occasionally handles a ‘storm’. Thus the voyage of the organizational change needs to have a break in the status quo (the current or existing state of affairs) and needed only occasionally.
