Doctors have legitimate power and expert power.

These powers are present by the virtue of the knowledge they have gathered by their practice and experience after study. So the legitimate ppower comes as they can influence people by their direction to guide to do things, as they are seen as powerful when any persons health comes into picture. And people follow their direction as they have the expertise by degree, experience and knowledge. As they are more aware than most of the people, they are experts in all things related to human body, health and functioning. So the people trust the expertise of the doctors.
