2. Network Topology B The network topology from Part 1 has expanded to accommodate the addition of router R3 and its accompanying network, as illustrated in the following topology. Use the 192.168.10.025 network address to provide addresses to the network devices, and then design a new addressing scheme to support the additional network requirement PC-A PC-B PC-C so/o/o R2 so/o/1 G0/1 so/o/o G0/1 S1 R1 R3 S3 Step 1: Determine the number of subnets in Network Topology B. a. How b. How many bits should you borrow to create the required number of subnets? c. How many usable host addresses per subnet are in this addressing scheme? d. What is the new subnet mask in dotted decimal format? e. How many subnets are available for future use? many subnets are there? Step 2: Record the subnet information. Fill in the following table with the subnet information: bnet Number Address irst Address AddressExplanation / Answer
Solution:
a)
6 subnets are there., since for subnet id 3 bits are used, so 2^3 = 8
b)
3 bits a re borrowed for subnet ID
c)
usable host addresses are 7 bits are left for usable hosts, but 3 is assigned to the subnet which means
4 are left
so number of usable hosts= 2^4 - 2 = 14, The two addresses are subnet ID and broadcast address which are not usable.
d)
New subnet mask = 11111111.11111111.11111111.11110000
e)
2 subnets are avaialbe becaus eout of 8 6 are used.
