Question
Internet Privacy Law has been quite a sensitive issue with the popularity of internet in household and almost everywhere. Initially users and the government was not at all bothered about Internet privacy because the issue was considered to be petty as users were not actually aware of the actual issue and its consequences. In the last two decades internet is the most used thing and is a basic need for us and with this change privacy became a concern. Internet Privacy is actually the right to safeguard personal and private data which a user deals while browsing the internet, internet privacy can also be stated as a constituent of data privacy.
The United States has had various speculations with the issue of internet privacy, the internet service providers in order to do business used the user data without the consent of the users. The internet service providers used this data in order to advertise products or service because the objective of advertisement is to reach maximum number of consumers and the method the providers use may be unethical but initially it was not harmful. During the Obama era the Internet Service providers had to ask for permission from the users before selling any of their data to organizations and the objective was security and privacy of the users just before the election of Donald Trump as the president of the United States the law was passed but the Internet Service Providers did not back the law as they thought that the decision is more stringent for them because Google and Facebook is allowed to do so without any consent.
The Federal Communications Commission and the House of Representatives were against this rule which began in the Obama era and they appealed against that which was supported by the internet providers and Donald Trump also signed the pact which again proved that the corporate giants who provide Internet Service were given preference over basic internet security. The internet service providers will get access to everything including the location, financial information, browsing history, social security numbers and history related to their use of internet. The law which was supporting privacy of data was supported by the congress back in 2015 but now the turn around may seem surprising but congress claim that the privacy does not mean just the browsing history. It claims that privacy and security is maintained at a level and the congress will have a close look into that.
