Question

There are various influential tactics that could be undertaken by the effective leaders to be the most effective. However, it is always preferable to have more than one tactics that could best suit the situation in order to solicit cooperation from the other end for the leaders to undertake various decisions.

One of the influential tactics that the effective leaders use is exchange. Man is a social animal and we do expect something or the other in return, while negotiating or letting others influence us. In this regard, exchange as a tactic would work for the leaders. Even if the return for a deed or an expected action from others is minimal, these leaders shall still walk an extra mile to emphasize the value of that return to the person on whom these leaders would like to use the influential tactic. This promise could either be explicit or implicit, the rewards in return maybe tangible or perceived, but if the leaders have given them a word, then the leaders shall also divert all their efforts to comply with the same. This tactic is hence motivating as well to the other party.

Next would be simple Rational Persuasion tactic of putting forth the leader’s logic in the persuasion process to generate a favorable feedback or action from the other end. In this regard, when the leaders are sure that they have a backing of facts and that may take on the request that the leaders are placing before the other party is concrete, then the leaders have the backing of the factual evidence to prove their stance in the proposal that is so offered. Therefore, the leaders could likely avail a willing support from the other end.

Also one more influential tactics used by the leaders in order to become the most effective is the pressure tactic. In this case, various kind of stress is built of the subordinates or on the teammates to achieve a certain task in a desired way, failing which the subordinates would have to face certain unwarranted consequences which the subordinates would otherwise like to avoid. Hence, in order to escape such a scenario, such as a loss of pay, suspension from job, etc., the subordinates work under the pressure and conform to the leaders’ expectations.
