Human factors are the study of physical and physiological behavior of individuals. It is gauging the behavior of the individuals’ response to a particular environment, product or service. Human factors are also known as Ergonomics.

Cognitive Engineering- It is the analysis and development of systems and designs for a complex set of people and technology. It combines both human factors and technology for the study. This is a multidisciplinary study.

Human-Integrated System- This is a management process for integrating the human factors in all the system related elements. This system is to undertaken to ensure that the characteristics of people is synergized with the system throughout the development systems. This is an interdisciplinary process.

The fundamental difference is that the human factors are mainly focused on the human behavior. Cognitive Engineering is a combination of both human factors and technology and this is a multidisciplinary study drawing concepts from a variety of processes like human factors, engineering, systems development, etc. Human integrated systems is the development process and an interdisciplinary system which uses both human factors and system.
