Question

Yes, prior to this course, I used LinkedIn to tap job opportunities by networking with the Industry’s relevant people such as HR manager, Product Team employee, Marketing manager, etc., in a more liberalized way than the way I would pursue in a formal ‘Job search’ portal. I created my LinkedIn profile by adding my professional passport size photo for recognition, updated my CV with my qualifications, latest achievements, internships and projects undertaken, etc. Since I already had some past work experiences, I also added the same to my LinkedIn profile. Further, I availed testimonials and references from my Boss at my previous workplace and also from the Dean of my College Department, who knew me personally well. I well presented my CV such that it anyway attracts the eye-balls of the Industry’s people. Then, I went on to tap connections pertaining to my field, by filtering my search options on the ‘search field’. I would prefer to strike a conversation with those people with whom I already have some mutual friends or connections as our contacts. The basic to do all this, would only to find more customized job options for my career growth.

Overall, to the individuals, besides employment, LinkedIn serves many other purposes. For example, it is very effective to improve business networks on personal & professional levels. LinkedIn also allows us to make our profile information available for search engines to index. Since LinkedIn profiles receive a fairly high Page Rank in Google, it helps other people to find us as well on a professional platform, besides other social networking sites that concentrates more on the personal front of ours.
