EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The city of Cupertino can benefit from the further development of its industrial park, Rancho Del Sol Park (RP). Both direct and indirect economic benefits will result, as shown by this report conducted by Land Prize Consultants Inc. This study was authorized by the Cupertino City Council when Sandal-Leon & Associates sought the city council’s approval for further development of the park. The city council asked for evidence demonstrating that this development would benefit the city.

Our conclusion, that the city of Cupertino can benefit from this development, is based on data supplied by a survey of 2,000 RP employees; personal interviews with managers, community members, and conservationists; city and state documents; and professional literature.

Analysis of the data revealed benefits in three areas:

On the basis of these findings, we recommend that RP be further developed in order to stimulate local economic growth. The city would increase its tax revenues, create much-needed jobs, and stimulate the local economy in and around Cupertino.
