Question

6. A received data link frame was found to include a correct CRC. What conclusions can the receiver reach?

7. What is a scenario under which SRP or GBN can not be used?

8. A 100 MHz CSMA CD channel has a maximum separation of 1000 metres between stations. Up to 2 repeaters, each introducing a delay of 1 us, can be used. The maximum packet length is 1500 bytes

a.What is the minimum packet size?

b. What is the efficiency?

9. A 10 MHz satellite channel is shared between 100 ground stations. All packets sent from ground stations to the satellite are 500 bytes long.

a.What is the maximum throughput of the channel if slotted ALOHA is used?

b.On an average, how many packets should each station transmit every second to realize the maximum throughput (if slotted ALOHA is used)?

c.What is the maximum throughput of the channel if plain ALOHA is used?

d.On an average, how many packets should each station transmit every second to realize the maximum throughput (if plain ALOHA is used)?

Explanation / Answer

Solution:

Note: 6 and 7 are answered, please repost others.

6. A received data link frame was found to include a correct CRC. What conclusions can the receiver reach?

When the CRC is correctly matched with the checksum at the receiver end, then this means that the transmission didn't create any error in the codeword while the transmission was in the process.

7. What is a scenario under which SRP or GBN cannot be used?

We cannot use Go-Back N when the data transmission is rate is high.

and when the frame needs to be in the sequence.

I hope this helps if you find any problem. Please comment below. Don't forget to give a thumbs up if you liked it. :)
