Question

4. Consider the network shown below. Suppose AS3 and AS2 are running OSPF for their intra-AS routing protocol. Suppose AS1 and AS4 are running RIP for their intra-AS routing protocol. Suppose eBGP and iBGP are used for the inter-AS routing protocol. Initially suppose there is no physical link between AS:2 and AS4. 4b 4c 4a 3c AS4 2c ?? 3b 2a 1c 2b 1b AS3 1a AS2 1d AS1 a. Router 4c learns about prefix x from which routing protocol: OSPF, RIP, eBGP, or iBGP? b. Router 3b learns about x from which routing protocol? c. Router 1a learns about x from which routing protocol? d. Router 1c learns about x from which routing protocol?

Explanation / Answer

Answer is as follows :

a)

The 4c using RIP because the both nodes are present in same network and it can be done by hope count between them.

b)

The 3b is using eBGP because both the nodes in different network or we can say that destinition node is in different area.

c)

To communicate AS4 with AS1 than we have to first route to AS3 and than to AS1.

We know that There are different type of autonomous system in this AS4 works in RIP , AS3 works in OSPF and AS1 works as RIP.

So here we are using different network protocols in different AS's.

but we also use RIP in this to pass it from 1c to 1a

So we can use eBGP and RIP protocol here.

d)

As from same effect with part c

1c is also used eBGP.
