The reasons are given below:
A wireless network packets and data stream transmission can be intercepted in between by using the technique which is called as sniffing.
The various ways in which the packets can be intercepted are,
A wireless client is de-authenticated when there is a denial of service attack which is targeting the communication between the wireless device and the user to not allow him to connect to the access point. by flooding the traffic.
Monitor mode:
Sniffing the packets in the air without even connecting to the access point.
promiscuous mode:
Sniffing the packets after connecting to the access point. This is possible because the wireless-enabled devices send the data in the air but only "mark" them to be processed by the intended receiver.
frame capturing mode:
In here the frames are not only sniffed but captured as well, you can do it with the help of wireless cards and using Wireshark.
