Explanation / Answer

Answer 1:

Yes,of course these are open source softwares and are provided free to the general public but these organizations make money by selling themselves to companies so the other companies can put their service on it. Or they survive through donations and other means like advertisments.

Answer 2:

Monitoring System performance is a way to measure how fast a computer executes application and system tasks. Monitoring System performance enables users to track the performance impact of applications and services, and to generate alerts or take action when user-defined thresholds for optimum performance are exceeded.

Important elements are the access speed of the physical hard disks, the amount of memory available to running processes, the overall speed of the processor, or the limitations between network interfaces. These are the main factors on the basis of which the system performance can be judged.

Answer 3:

Password Generator is software that allows you to generate a random password with a single click. It is useful when you often need to create passwords. One can think of a password himself; however, these passwords may be vulnerable to security flaws. People often include their name or favorite number in the password, which makes the password insecure.

Advantages:

1) Firstly, the most important advantage of a password generator is that it generates random passwords, which are not based on user’s life experience. Even if the person who tries to break into user’s personal account knows a lot about user, he or she cannot guess the password generated with Password Generator.

2) Secondly, it is simple to use.

3) Thirdly, it is simple to deploy.

Disadvantages:

1) Remembering the passwords is a challenge.

2) Does not provide strong identity check (only based on password).

Yes,I would recommend the use of such softwares as they provide security to our system by creating random passwords, that are difficult to crack.

Answer 4:

Open source software is a software whose source code can be changed, modified or used by anyone.Examples of such software are Linux,Firefox etc.

Difference between open source and licensed software

1.Open source software is available for the general public to use and modify from its original design free of charge. What it means is that a piece of software can evolve and be iterated upon by other developers anywhere in the world.

The Propietary software are the software where the source code is not shared with the public for anyone to look at or change.

2. As open source software isn’t developed in a controlled environment, security is often a concern.

Licensed software tends to be perceived as more secure since unlike open source software, it’s developed in a controlled environment by a focused team with a common direction.

3. Open source software depends on a loyal and engaged online community providing support through forums and blogs

But the biggest advantage of licensed software is ongoing support, which can assist users without much technical skill.

Whether to choose open source or licensed software depends on the needs of your business. If the usefulness of a system that is free of cost to use and distribute, with no agreements or constraints that have to be accepted, outweighs the running costs, security risks and lack of support, then it would probably be in your interest to join the growing trend of open source software. However, if you’re a large business with security concerns, the need for quick support and the money to pay upfront costs, then you may better suit licensed software.
