Question

Why do you think it's important for nonexperts to use peer-reviewed academic journals or professional business publications, and not just Internet resources such as Wikipedia, blogs, or individuals’ websites, as sources of data or information when writing/creating reports and presentations?

Name at least one professional business publication or peer-reviewed academic journal article that you believe you could or should use and cite as a source in the presentation about the good leader or leadership, and explain why you recommend that article. Include a web link to it if possible, or attach the article to your post as a PDF.

Explanation / Answer

Any research work goes through various phases of reviews before it gets published in a premier journal or publication. One of the most significant elements of a journal is its bibliographic citations which are similar to nerves that are connecting the human brain for the functionality of the nervous system. It is significant and essential that the format that is being followed by the researcher covers the standard format suggested by the publishers or information service providers that it covers fundamental metadata viz.,

Source information like Title, Abstract, Keywords, Funding information like Funding text, Funding organization, Author and Address Information, Citation details like Author, Volume, Page, Year, Title, Article Identifiers etc., When a non-expert doesn’t use an expert peer review, he/she is likely to end with errors pertaining to standardization requirements of publishers. Secondly how authentic and plagiarism free is the content provided by the researcher. Authenticity is the quality of being authentic and reliability is the quality of being trustworthy.

Internet sources provide an easy access to information but often fail to show authenticity and reliability of the information. Sources like Wikipedia, blog posts, independent URL’s might have plagiarized content. Profit and revenue from ads make them create articles as “Placebo” to the students to satisfy the need without having any effect on the knowledge level. Academic journals or professional business publications makes sure that the information is authentic and reliable to be used a reference in making a review or writing something. This also ensures that the content can be used for learning new concepts and theories for future success without worrying about the reliability.

I’ll use the following journal article on the leadership theory which is the most cited article on Leadership quality which is a reliable resource published by Elsevier and is peer-reviewed.
