Question

Suppose you receive a phone call from a client in Inventory Control who cannot access a database on a server located in headquarters. You learn that the client can access both the internet and the printer in the Inventory Control department. The user states that she also cannot access her email or resources in other departments.

How would I go about troubleshooting this? I'm just looking for a hint that can lead me in the right direction on how I should answer this prompt. My first thought would be that the network adapter was disabled, but the client can access the internet. Thanks!

Explanation / Answer

First thing to check whether other clients are able to access the database from the server which is located in the headquarters. Second thing is to check that client's access permissions.
