We all have a certain way in which we engage in conflict or a way in which we confront someone else about something that has happened to cause conflict.
You have probably heard the phrase, 'conflict avoidant.' This describes a person who does not want to be around conflict at all, and they will do everything possible to avoid it.
However, this is not a healthy way to interact in the world, or in the workplace. When you avoid conflict, you will not have the opportunity to learn from the situation and to find out how to manage such situations in the future.
At the same time, there are better ways to approach these more tense situations and to confront someone in way that does not necessarily incite or cause conflict.

An employee's workplace environment is a key determinant of the quality of their work and their level of productivity. How well the workplace engages an employee impacts their desire to learn skills and their level of motivation to perform. Skills and motivation level then influences an employee's:
error rate
output rate
level of innovation
collaboration with others
absenteeism, and
length of service.
The most important of these workplace environment factors that either lead to engagement or disengagement are shown in the following diagram. You can use an engagement survey from a reputable employee survey company to measure how motivated and satisfied your employees are with their day to day responsibilities. A close consideration of each of these factors is also very useful in ensuring that employees apply the skills they learn during training programs once they return to their workplace. Tending to the structural and interpersonal aspects of each of these factors enables employees to apply the required skills in a consistent and habitual way.

In organisations, people from different backgrounds, with different beliefs, values, needs and interests come together to collaborate and work with each other. Often, it happens when the people working together may not share the same values, beliefs, needs or interests. This, at times, results in organisational conflicts. Organisational conflicts may take many forms but mostly it is verbal or written in nature. Rarely, we see actual violence happening in offices as the term “confrontation” implies. As individuals, we all have a certain way to react and engage in conflicts. We take either active or passive roles when the conflicts take place at our workplace. Few people try to intervene and resolve the conflict between the two employees. These people seek a healthy working environment and therefore, give their best to tackle the workplace confrontation. But there are others, termed as “conflict avoidant”. These are the people who does not want to have their name related to any kind of conflict at all and do everything possible to not to be around it.
“Conflict avoidant” might be successful in not engaging with conflict at that particular moment, but if a conflict is there between two people in the team, it becomes the responsibility of their peers to engage with them and identify the reasons causing trouble to both of them. By intervening and participating in conflicts in a healthy manner, they will be able to not only resolve the conflict but also the harmony and synergies between the team members will be restored. Conflicts at workplace provides individuals an opportunity to learn and manage the tense situations. Participating in conflicts does not always means to add to the trouble. Individuals can play a healthy role in resolving the conflicts by taking the necessary steps to resolve them. Some of these may be:

Workplace Environment
Individuals spent a majority of time of their daily life at their workplace. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every organisation and every employer to provide a healthy work environment to their employees. The kind of workplace people work in have a direct impact on the important parameters like the work quality and level of productivity of the employee. If the workplace environment of the organisation is demotivating or non-encouraging, it hinders the growth and efficiency of the people working there. Oppose to it, if the organisation maintains a healthy environment, the employees feel motivated and valued. A motivated and valued employee automatically performs well and contributes to the growth of the organisation.
The desire to learn and motivation to perform for an employee has a direct relation with their level of engagement with the workplace. Key values to judge the performance of an employee like error rate, output rate, innovation, behaviour with other team members, punctuality and most importantly, his tenure with the organisation is directly related to how much motivated he is to perform for his organisation.
In order to increase the engagement of an employee with his workplace and to keep him motivated, organisations often conduct training and development programmes for the employees. It ensures that the personal objectives of the person are aligned with the organisational goals. It also becomes important to make sure that employees implement the learnings from these training programmes at their actual workplace. A motivated and skilled employee is a vital asset for every organisation.
