NETW360 Week 7 iLab

Troubleshooting Common WLAN Problems

Scenario I

Among the common WLAN problems described at the beginning of this lab, which do you suspect is most likely the problem?

How would you verify and confirm your educated guess? What WLAN tool(s) would you use, and what information would you look for?

Suggest two possible ways of remedying the identified problem.

Explanation / Answer

Scenario IV

1.Among the common WLAN problems described at the beginning oF this lab, which do yoususpect is most likely the problem?

Since they moved the AP closer and it did not solve the problem. The problems lies not in thedistance but the connect itselF. The AP could be reaching upper limits oF users due to anotherperson being added also it could be reaching max bandwidth available.

2.How would you veriFy and con³rm your educated guess?

Using software, either network management system or Wireless analyzers you can see howmuch bandwidth is being used in billing department’s wireless network. Going into the APduring the peak work hours you can then see how many users are accessing that AP.

3.Suggest two possible ways oF remedying the idenµ³ed problem.

The simplest soluµon would be to add another AP rearranging the current setup so thatcoverage oF the computers is be¶er suited towards those in the back oF the o²ce such as Johnand Janice. IF bandwidth is the problem then implemenµng bandwidth saving opµons, such asA-MSDU/A-MPDU, to allow maximum transmission units over the wireless network.Page3oF3
