Fortune 500, the name itself is a parameter to judge organizations based on their position in the list. The list consists of 500 companies from all over the world who have been selected based on various parameters starting from Revenue to customer service and any company which finds place in this list considers this as a huge achievement. Fortune also publishes a list of most admired companies which is judged based on various other parameters except revenue, net worth and profit, this list comprises of the organizations which are valued, popular and is considered to be a reference in that field.
We will talk about these organizations but first we will compare the list of the top 10 most admired companies of 2010 and of the current year:-

While comparing the lists we can easily notice that in the 2017 list there are 7 new names in comparison to the 2010 list which implies that 7 companies have dropped from the 2010 list. They are:-

Coca-Cola a household popular name started its journey way back in the late 19th century and within few years it reached very high levels of popularity which made the brand indispensable in the market then and the variety of carbonated drinks the organization produced was unique in taste and flavor. The organizations maintained the quality and reputation of the brand and even today the brand is the first preference among its competitors in the market the outcome is the name Coca-Cola featuring in the 2010 list. The question now arises, why is it no more in the 2017 list. The factors are:-

An ecommerce giant staretd its business by selling books online is now the one stop solution for almost all needs and is one of the most valued and odmired organization from 2007-2008.
If we look into the list we will notece that there 7 new companies which have made to the tope 10 in 2017 bt was not there in the list in 2010. They are:-
The organization has a very interesting history as it started in one of the Hostel rooms of Harvard University by a student named Mark Zuckerberg who later on became the yougest billionaire and now his company features in the Fortune 500 list. Facebook is a social networking website created a huge stir with its entry into the industry. Even before facebook there has been other social networking platforms through which the purpose was served but none of them lated long but Facebook has been successful in doing that achieving that for almost around 10 years now.
Facebook as an organization has excelled because of the core competencies that it possess and these has helped the organization a lot in having an upper hand over its competitors.
This provides various competitive advantage to the organization because its competitors have been technically advanced but the user base is lagging behind in comparison to facebook. It can be stated that if the company conyinues in this approach then the company is likely to continue effectively in the future irrespective of its competitors.
