Question

I'm given a data file with the content:
English101b 20 40
A123 Britney Spears 4 90 99 98 100
A124 Cali Fornia 0 99 90 89 78
B321 Hello Morning 3 100 99 88 79
...
So the file's format is like this
<Course> <Section number> <Enrollment#>
<Student ID> <first name > <last name> <absences #> <test 1 score> .....<test n score>
It is <test n score> because the program gonna allow user to add new test's score.

My question is...How can I load the test 1 score ONLY, to find the highest score, lowest score and average from test 1.
For example Test 1 from Britney Spears is 90, Cali Fornia is 99, Hello Morning is 100...
The output gonna be
Highest = 100
Lowest = 90
Average = 100+90+99/3 (w.e the number is :D)

Please help. I'll rate 100%!

Explanation / Answer

rephrase: you cannot change the input method therefore, you have to read it in as is, but you can choose to save the input to some variable you can recall later, or just overwrite the input (i.e. don't save it after getting that input and just continue with the next input). The snippit below ignores the first 7 input .... count=0; while(!input.eof()){ input>>amt; if(count
