Find a list of names (from an online telephone directory perhaps) and use it as the input to a script that forms login names according to the naming convention at your site***. How many users can you accomodate before you have a collision? How many collisions are there overall? Use the data to evaluate your site's naming convention, and suggest improvements.

I dont really understand the question. Can anyone give me some guidance on where to begin?

Pick out a few names from telephone directory and use those names as input for your script to create user names. Lets say you have script called (userGenerator.pl) and you run the script in unix. > ./userGenerator > John Villa the output should be based on your site username conventions. Some sites have first letter of first name and entire lastName. so username would be "jVilla". Lets say if two people have same name you have a collision which your script probably produce with same username. This is a known problem when system generates its own usernames. You have to design a script that can manage collisions and enhance the script by suggesting changes. Hope that helps.
