Answer each of the following questions using any necessary resources:
1- SSK Software Corporation has opened offices in Toledo, Cincinnati, and Detroit. The corporate headquarters are located in Toledo. Toledo will serve as the hub for the network. Workstation requirements at each of the locations are as follows:

(a) Propose a network to accommodate the office locations above. Your proposal should incorporate the most efficient use of network/host and a second option. Provide pluses and minuses for each option. You should also specify the types of links that can used to interconnect the sites, with pluses and minuses for each type of connection. (10 points)


(b) Select one of your options from answer (a) above to use in developing a network number scheme and assign IP addresses to devices used at each location. Diagram the entire network applying this scheme.(10 points)


(c) Assuming SSK Software elects to use static routing on each of the routers, what route entries would be required on each of the routers (syntax is important) (10 points)

(d) Assuming SSK Software wants to use dynamic routing, what entries would need to be configured in each of the routers to make this happen (give 2 sets of examples; each set should use a different type of dynamic routing). (10 points)

Explanation / Answer

(a) A virtual private network (VPN) can accommodate the office locations. Each location can accommodate the required number of network or hosts and can be connected to each other through a VPN. Since each location has a scope of adding more hosts and planning for extension, a VPN can better serve the requirements. It allows the network to expand easily. Also its cost is less when compared to other leased line networks. A VPN may have a main LAN at the headquarters and other LANS at other locations. A VPN uses virtual connections routed through Internet. Another option can be the use of Wide Area Network (WAN). A WAN network using the leased line connections can be used to accommodate the office locations. It provides as reliable and secure connection. And it is advantageous in the aspect of reliability, performance and security. But it is very expensive. Leased lines are used to maintain these networks.
