Text processing from a set of given documents is one of the most frequently used approach in information retrieval also known as text mining. Through this we extract the important information for our future use. And that information helps us for future decisions.
Take an example of hospital. Suppose in the month of April 100 patients come with the same condition, they have nauseate feeling, headache and also suffer from fever. After so many tests it is found that they are affected by dengue. After that in the month of May 200 patients come with the same condition, if we start by testing each patient, it takes a lot of time and it may cause death of some patient before their tests results come in. Here text processing helps us. What we do is that by looking at the data of April we will process the data of 100 patients and find that if patient come with nauseate feeling, headache and also suffer from fever then they are affected by dengue. Without wasting time on tests we will start their treatment and save lives of all patients.
Aim of this assignment is too aware you with the text processing and its importance. Your task is to implement text processing on the basic level.
? Select a text document having at least 1500 words.
? Convert all the words in lower case.
? Remove “! @ # $ Y > , . ( *’” signs from the document.
? Separate each word in that document on whitespace and count
o How many times each word has occurred
o Total number of words
? User will be able to search any particular words from that document.
? Implement linear search and binary search for searching on these words. User will enter the word that is to be searched.
? Print the time for searching the word through both of the searching algorithms.
