Question

Given the scenario below describing culturally diverse individuals receiving care and support for either an end-of-life palliative health condition, an existing disability, or a chronic complex disorder. Examine this reaction through an exploration of your attitudes, assumptions, biases, and beliefs. (The following is the Scnerio:) Case 1 “I can’t keep getting picked up like this. I’m too old for this.” Everyone at the shelter – staff and residents alike – seem to have a fondness for Lee. Outgoing and friendly, he’s eager to talk, but embarrassed to say much about his arrest. Lee is a 68-year-old male in North St. Paul, MN. He currently does not have stable housing and has been using temporary shelter services for over a year. Lee came to your attention when he was placed in the crisis-receiving unit last weekend as a result of public intoxication downtown. You notice a number of broken teeth as Lee speaks. The pungent aroma of his breath suggests that he hasn’t seen a dentist for quite some time. He also chain smokes and has a persistent cough. When you ask about the last time he saw a doctor, Lee says he can’t remember. He has a current prescription for blood pressure medication from a nearby charity clinic, but otherwise, he tells you, “I’m okay.” Lee reports no current income and does not drive. When he has money, he reports using the city bus. He states that he used to work as a driver. When asked about family connections, he appears apprehensive to share any information with you. Lee states he likes living in North St. Paul, but knows he needs some additional help.

People might be fond of him but no one is completely taking care of him which explains the thinking of society in general. We come across many people in our day to day life whom we pity but cannot help . This is because many norms of the society stop us . Some people who can aafford take such people to nearby chatiry homes and help them. Lee is helpless and want to be independent but his health is defiantely not permitting him and he needs care.
