Interpreted code executes much more slowly than compiled code, yet several systems use them extensively. The most well known are Visual Basic (it has two modes: interpreter mode and compiler mode), JavaScript and the special case of interpretation of Java programs (see the box (Implementation of Java) on page 312 (or 294 in the US edition) of the book (9th edition: 282)). Discuss the merits and weaknesses of interpreting, as opposed to compiling, and explain when and why they are used.

Explanation / Answer
As we all know that the instruction sets are firstly executed and then complied. So interpretation is more slower than the compilation, because the editor first interpret the instructions and then it compile the set of codes. So compilation has more strength over interpretation, because of its execution time. In programming the execution time is more important.
