Tell us about a time that you were part of a project team. This may be work-related, but most of us have additional experiences working with groups on projects in other areas of life. For instance, you may have worked on a group project for a course that proved an interesting experience. If you have been in the military, you may have been assigned to work on a particular project for a period of time. If you have been on a committee at church or part of a volunteer team, project work may have been involved.

Once you have selected a project, describe it and discuss your role. How was the project initiated? How were your role and responsibilities decided? What did you do to fulfill your role? What obstacles did you or the group encounter? Were you able to work through them? If so, how? In the end, did the project team deliver the product originally envisioned, or did this deliverable change during the course of the work? Sometimes groups disband or fail to deliver; if this happened, explain why and what can be learned from this experience.

Project name: Shopping 24x7

Project Description:

The project includes creating a website in java that is a shopping destination for Apparels, accessories, footwears and many more items. We were three members in a team and it was our six months training period in engineering.

Our first challenge was to completely understand the software in which project is to be made.

After being familiarized, we decided to document the requirements of the project.

Then we did full research about some existing shopping websites. Then we divided our roles in making the project.

My role was first to create frontend pages in ‘html’ and then we collaboratively did the connectivity with database in ‘mysql’.

Creating HTML pages was not that difficult for me as I was very good at it. I did this in one and a half day. The main challenge was to connect the frontend with backend database, run the queries and get desired output. We included many features like the most recent items, frequently bought items, most popular items etc..Frankly, I was not very good at javascript. But my other team members were very proficient. So I did my best to join them at every step and learn as much as I could. We then created a beautiful logo with the help of our project guide. The whole project development was developed in 20 days where the time allotted to us was a whole month. In rest of time, we tried to improve it day by day. It helped me learn many things:

When we presented this projected in our institute, we got very positive response but we were not able to launch it on web server and could not get the domain name.

I still regret we could work upon it further but we had more challenges before us like doing post graduation, getting placements in MNCs etc. But overall it was a experience for lifetime.
