What is NFC technology?

Near Field Communication NFC is a method of wireless data transfer called NFC (Near field communication) that detects and then enables technology in close proximity to communicate without the need for an internet connection. Thus it is a popular mode of transferring data especially between mobile phones and hand-held devices.

How can you get NFC technology on your smartphone?

NFC Technology is available on many modern day devices and mobiles nowadays. Next time you buy a mobile phone, you can check whether your phone supports NFC or not. If it does then it will support all software and applications that use NFC communication for data exchange.

What are the pros and cons of using NFC technology?

Pros: 1) No need of internet to transfer data. 2) More secure than physical cards or money as the user's information is encrypted and password and pin protected. 3) This technology can be made to put to use in many fields, be it payments, or reserving restaurant seats and movie passes, booking train tickets, getting real-time updates on expenditure and reward points, redeeming rewards and coupons and much.

Cons: 1) Expensive : The technology is expensive to be adopted by a company and to purchases machines and equipment for it's use. 2) Currently there are more advanced and competitive ways for payments and others actions from a mobile device that's why companies may not try to setup and thus it is not very popular. 3) Security : there are security concerns as the user data will be stored in the user's mobile and thus it is important and vulnerable.

What other services does NFC technology provide?

As I have already mentioned in the Pros part that NFC can be used in many ways for mobile held devices and also for other purposes. This mode of payment can be used for the purposes of mobile banking and mobile wallet payment, reserving restaurant seats and movie passes by payment using this technology, booking train tickets by payment using this technology, getting real-time updates on expenditure and reward points and many more. It can also be used on other uses, such as ID in and out people from a campus. In short, it has many uses. It makes payments and data transfers fast and efficient and easy.

Is NFC technology secure? Why or why not?

I have already talked about NFC Security in Pros and Cons. NFC is secure as it is fast and easier to use and you can store your information on your mobile and keep it password and pin protected, so if anybody has your device they can't retrieve the data easily, which can easily happen to your physical credit cards. NFC enabled payment cards are also use more secure technology. However, disadvantage of security maybe that user data is mostly stored on the phone and hacker's can break into and get the data of the user. This makes the entire system vulnerable and insecure.

Would you use NFC technology? Why or why not?

Personally speaking it's a great technology that makes it easier to use and hassle free and fast. Thus I would love to use this technology. Even mobile wallets and bank account are at risk from hackers if you access them through your phone. So NFC is a good option if you use it with open eyes. You have to be wary of the fact that data can be stolen and better stay away from all the traps that the hacker or attacker puts up for you. This way you'll be safe and again use a beautiful technology for making our lives easier.
