Explanation / Answer

Answer is as follows:

1. 97

a) Signed Magnitude:

Binary Representation of 97 is 1100001 i.e. 7 bit

8 bit is sign bit , the given number is +ve so the 8th bitis set to 0

than signed magnitude of 97 is 01100001 in 8 bit representation.

b) 1's Complement

Convert 0 to 1 and1 to 0 of given 8 bit binary representation as follows

1's complement of 01100001 is

10011110

c) 2's Complement:

By Add 1 in 1's Complement we get 2's Complement as

10011110 + 1 = 1001111

2's complement of 01100001 is 10011111

2. -97

a) Signed Magnitude

The Given Number is -ve so 8th bit is set to 1 then signed magnitude of -97 is

11100001

b) 1's Complement

00011110

c) 2's Complement

00011110 + 1 = 00011111

3) 44

a) Signed Magnitude

Binary Representation of 44 is 0101100

8th bit is set to 0 , the no is +ve

so signed magnitude of 44 is 00101100

b) 1's complement

11010011

c) 2's complement

11010011 + 1 = 11010111

4) -44

a) Signed Magnitude

10101100

b) 1's Complement

01010011

c) 2's Comlement

01010011 + 1 = 01010111
