write 2-3 paragraphs on the Baddeley-Hitch model. You are required to cite a source. This means you need the in-text citation within your paragraph and the full reference at the end of your paragraphs. Please note that 40% of your grade for this assignment is based on including the in-text citation and the full reference. You may use your text, a book, a journal article or a website. Please ensure you are using a credible source. Do not use Wikipedia. This is not a reliable or credible source! Do not use blogs. Use appropriate academic resources. Look for websites that end in .gov or .edu instead of .com or .org.
Explanation / Answer
The Baddeley-Hitch model Was proposed by Alan Bladdeley and Graham Hitch in 1974. They had studied the 1968 Atkinson-shiffrin model in 1968 and believed that the model's short term memory store lacked detail.
The model consisted of three main sections-
1. Central Executive
2.Phonological loop
3. Visco- Spatial Skechpad
Central Executive - The central executive was the most important part of working memory because it was in complete control of the actions of the other components. The central executive has the ability to store information but its capacity is limited.
Phonological Loop - This Contains the articulatory control system (inner voice). The articulatory control system revives memory traces with all auditory information believed to directly enter the phonological store. this stores information via a code based on sound but it decays within two seconds. this store's input comes from long term memory or the ears.
Visuo-Spatial Sketchpad - This is believed to hold visual information. the eyes are used to store and manupilate visual and spatial information such as remembering colours or shapes
