Management By Objectives (MBO) is a process that almost always is discussed in conjunction with planning. This is somewhat surprising, as it is rarely seen implemented in its pure form in practice.

Explanation / Answer
Management by objective will have the goals related with growth and progress of the organization. These goals will cover all the areas which affect the organization growth directly or indirectly. These areas may include planning of manufacturing, Integration of manpower, Analysis and appraisal of employee performance.
There are following benefits of MBO which can term as strength of organization:-
1. Improved management: - This can be achieved only if the management has the group of people who are goal oriented and objective oriented to full fill the organization requirement. This will simplify the planning activities and divided into different level of management for further improvement.
2. Straight and clear Idea: - This will help in defining the goal directly into from employees. They will assign the manpower and assign the tasks as per their job responsibilities. This help in evaluation of idea at different level of employees as per their experience. They will be to demonstrate the way to implement the idea which should be clear and straight for employees.
3. Encouragement and commitment: - MBO brings the personnel with commitment to archive the goals and objective. Management gives the opportunity to employees to represent the ideas for improvement in goal and objective. They will discuss the pros and cons of the objective. It helps in bringing the enthusiasm and commitment to achieve the goal.
There various weakness/drawbacks of MBO which can prevent the implementation of this Objective.
1. Individual Ability (Failure to express idea):- This idea depends upon the understanding level f managers. Second thing is how they represent the idea in front of workers. They should be able demonstrate the idea properly and even they should be capable to answer the queries from the workers. So individual have different level ability to understand the objective so it may become difficult to implement. These managers should be self motivated and have self control. This ability also affects the guideline preparation which should be followed to accomplish the idea. Lack of ability will mislead the outcome of idea if proper guidelines were not prepared.
2. Lack of Objective Understanding: - The objective should be clear and related with the organization. The impact of idea should be briefly analyzed. Incomplete analysis of objective can cause the big loss to the organization and wastage of manpower as well as time. These objectives should be not prepared to fulfill the formal document only. Lack of data and its resources will bring the weak idea or objective.
