Question
Significant Association If {1, 2, 3} and {2, 3, 4} are the only frequent 3-itemsets, identify for each one of the following sets if it is or is not a frequent itemset, or you cannot be certain if it is a frequent itemset or not: {1} {1, 2} {1, 4} {1, 2, 3, 4} {1, 3, 4} Name and describe the property used to determine the answers in (a). Assume that the confidence of the decision rule, 1 rightarrow 2, is 100%. Is the confidence of the decision rule, 2 rightarrow 1, also 100%? Give an example of data to justify your answer. Assume that the numerals in the following association rules and large sequences identify different music files that customers downloaded on the Internet in the same sessions or multiple sessions. As a consultant to Amazon.com, make a recommendation to your client based on each of the following association rule. 1 rightarrow 2 with low support, high confidence and lift = n where n is large. 1 rightarrow 2 with high support, high confidence and lift is close to 0. with high support with high supportExplanation / Answer
In frequent item set mining, we can use apriori property "All subsets of a frequent item set are frequent" to check whether the given item set is frequent item set or not.
We have been given that {1,2,3} and {2,3,4} is the only frequent 3-itemset.
i. Frequent set according to apriori property. {1} is subset of {1,2,3}
ii. Frequent set according to apriori property. {1,2} is subset of {1,2,3}
iii. Infrequent since {1,4} is not subset of either {1,2,3} or {2,3,4}
iv. Not certain since we don't know about the transaction database.
v. Infrequent itemset. It's been already given that {1,2,3} and {2,3,4} are the only frequent 3-itemset. Hence {1,3,4} can't be a frequent 3-itemset.
b. Apriori property - All subsets of a frequent item set are frequent
