Question

With the recent security breaches that has allowed for the download of a variety of types of data including celebrity personal information as well as intellectual property in mind, provide your comments:

Hackers that break into systems and don't disrupt web site services or sell the information they gain: Are they criminals, or are they heroes helping computer specialists discover faults within computer networks and systems?

Can the U.S. government really stop advanced encryption techniques from falling into the hands of criminals?

Explanation / Answer

Today the computer network security has reached to such a point where it can be characterized by two seemingly conflicting statements: The network security has never been better than it is today, and also never have computer networks been more vulnerable than they are today. Strong encryption can be restricted. This is because the government has limited amounts of resources and man power. But if the communications of every criminal suspect had to be decoded, all the investigations would never get anywhere thus wasting a great deal of time and money on them. The US government can stop using more advanced technique untill a period of time .Later new techniques would be necessary since the criminals would already be familiar with all the previous techniques.
