Question

Facebook has four different regions and wants to determine how each region is performing. According to the strategy team's analysis the region's internal and external assessments show the following:

1. US & Canada Segment - Internal (Strong) and External (High)

2. Europe Segment - Internal (Average) and External (High)

3. Asia Pacific Segment- Internal (On the border of Strong & Average) and External (Low)

4. Other Segment - Internal (Average) and External (Medium)

How would you use this information to help the Facebook strategy team? What does this data tell you about the division performance & strategies to deploy?

Explanation / Answer

US & Canada Regions have been strong both internally and externally .Hence the strategy here would be to protect and grow the base . This region would be their cash cow and hence it is important that they dont lose this segment.

Europe Segment - Since the external assessment has been good , it is not a major factor to worry. But the internal assessment needs some work. Hence this page needs a strong team to improve the internal assessment.

Asia Pacific - The assessment both Internal and External has been low , Hence this definitely needs a lot of attention and a good team is required internally and also a lot of advertisements and promotions that needs to be done to improve the perception of the brand here.

Other Segments are a greenfield base for Facebook. Hence what can be done is to go aggressive on these markets and capture certain segments that have high potential.
