Question

So i have this one file i update pretty much without major structure changes from 2009 (it's a timeboard log for my work unit). But now sometimes (not always) Excel could go to "not responding" mode when i copy some cells and paste them onto the other ones inside that file. I found a way to reproduce the bug reliably:

1. open the file (see the link above to my dropbox, since you can't attach files here on the forum).

2. copy pretty much any cell from the main table (i.e. D24-R25 block).

3. paste it to T24 (note the unusual pause here, for about half a second).

4. press ctrl+z (undo last operation) -> Excel hangs up and won't respond until you close it forcefully.

I checked 3 different machines with different hardware and Windows versions, the only common thing between them is MS Excel 2010 with the latest updates. I tried "Excel /safe", it works the same. I tried to copy all my data into a brand new file (via "select all" -> paste), it does that eventually (after a long pause) but if you open the new file later it behaves just like the old one.

Need help, please!!!

Explanation / Answer

I opened the file and follow the copy paste procedure you have and yes my excel freeze.

upon checking, you have lot's of conditional formatting on your timesheet, whenever you copy a cell down below, your conditional format duplicates, try checking your conditional format again, if i'm correct there should be only 4 conditional format on each cell for "pn, OT & B. "
