Question

I am working in Excel 2013 and I am attempting to create a formula that references another sheet, but I want that formula to be based on a value in the current sheet. I have created an example file that is available at the link below.

https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=3608EC5E7FAA93CE%21409

In the example file, the Arizona tab shows the week 1 opponent as San Diego. I want to create a set for formulas that will use the value "San Diego" to reference data on the San Diego tab.

While the example file shows only 2 tabs, the finished product will have tabs for all 32 teams. Because of the number of teams and the number of formulas on each tab, it is important that the formulas pull data from the correct tabs without needing to be edited each week. Hence, the desire to make the external reference to another sheet work based on the contents of the Opponent column.

Does anyone know how to make this work?

Thanks in advance for any help you may offer!

Explanation / Answer

Try this formula in cell J5 in Arizona tab, and copy for other cells

=INDIRECT("'"&$C5&"'!"&ADDRESS(ROW(D5),COLUMN(D5)))

Hope this helps!
