Question
Unwanted Lines Appearing Around an Inserted Image
I have created a table in word and want to insert a logo in one of the columns ( I have done this countless times before without problems using a different image) I am using a tiff file which has been supplied to me - the problem I have is when i insert it, it initially looks fine and prints fine, but once I have saved the doc, closed it and then reopened it 2 lines appear, 1 along the top and 1 down the left hand side (as though they are the image borders). I really cant find a way to get rid of these. Any ideas? Thank you
Explanation / Answer
The problem is Automatic Compression of pictures.
From Word Help:
Under Picture Tools, on the Format tab, in the Adjust group, click Compress Pictures.
Note If you do not see the Picture Tools and Format tabs, make sure that you selected a picture. If you see the Drawing Tools tab, rather than the Picture Tools tab, see When I click a picture, the Drawing Tools tab rather than the Picture Tools tab appears.
Click Options, and then do one or moreof the following:
To stop automatic reduction of picture file size when you save the document, clear the Automatically perform basic compression on save check box.
To automatically delete cropped areas of pictures when you save the document, select the Delete cropped areas of pictures check box, and then click OK.
To automatically save cropped areas of pictures, clear the Delete cropped areas of pictures check box.
Unfortunately the previously comressed pictures will need to be reinserted into the document as the process cannot be reversed.
Alternatively, you could crop a minimal amount from the offending side(s) of the image. That way, there's no need to reinsert any.
