Some people argue that without the constant threats and challenges provided by (unauthorized) hackers, we might not learn of vulnerabilities, and security would be weak Are hackers heroes? DO they perform a public service by finding and publicizing computer security weaknesses?Explanation / Answer
2.
Hackers are the people who try to invade the computer security and steal the important data for illegitimate use. So, these people are never going to the hero. It is the responsibility of the developers, programmers and other IT professionals to evaluate the security framework with different perspectives on a proactive basis and eliminate the weaknesses or scope of theft of data. It is the way, different security providers and anti-virus application work as they collect data on a continuous basis regarding the new threats being developed, ready their database and come up with superior level of security.
The hackers don’t perform public service by finding and publicizes the vulnerabilities, because they don’t do it for the public welfare, rather they do it to fulfill their own ill intentions. The ultimate objective of the hackers is to gain unauthorized access to the other systems, web applications and apps and gain the data for illegal usage. It is never going to be a public service as it harms people and society at large. Hackers only create threat, insecurity among people and harm at large for their own benefits. So, it is a part of their personal service, rather a public service.
