Explanation / Answer

The point of difference between a blog and the news story on the same subject is that a lot of subjectivity is involved in a blog writing whereas a news story is mostly objective with just the factual content on it. The news story gives the reader an opportunity to form his/her own opinion whereas the blog on the same subject seldom does so.

According to me, the point of similarity lies mainly in the style of writing which focuses on attracting a reader's attention.

Both news story and blog, when analysed jointly with regards to a particular event greatly enhances one's understanding of the news or event. Relying most on one of the medium, might lead to a perception error.
