THOUGHT QUESTIONS

1. With power over Ethernet, what is the potential danger to users in having powered switch ports? How do you think this danger might be avoided?

2. When would the optional Tag fields in the Ethernet frame be added? [205]

3. The Length field is 22.

a) How long is the combined data field and PAD?

b) How long is the PAD?

DESIGN QUESTIONS

1. Design an Ethernet network to connect a single client PC to a single server. The two devices are 410 feet apart. They need to communicate at 800 Mbps. Your design will specify the locations of switches and the transmission line between the switches.

Explanation / Answer

It all depends on placement, for instance if the router is by your computer but the server is 410 feet away, then you need to buy around 500 feet of cable for any twists and turns and hiding for a clean hide, but the cable must be Cat-6 at least, then you need a router that has Gigabit Ethernet ports and each device has to have a Gigabit Ethernet port or you can buy a PCI or PCIe card for each device you want to be connected Now if the router is say in between the distance then just adjust the amount of cable needed to connect each device that's all this is how my system is run also I use all the hardware i just listed and achieve what your looking for in a system
