Explanation / Answer

1)

The practical approach helps us to be an authentic leader. It tells us how to be authentic It is based on real-life examples and development literature.

Bill George's Authentic Leadership Approach-the model is based on essential characteristics of authentic leaders

The theoretical approach tells us what authentic leadership is and explains the process of authentic leadership along with the factors influencing it. This approach is based on findings from social science research. There are -(Walumba and Associates)-4 components of authentic leadership:

2)

I think understanding one's values and sticking to it is the most important. This arises from a sense of clarity. Clarity first and everything follows next. Values act like a guiding torch and help in decision making and carving out a niche for oneself. If the ladder is leaning on the wrong wall, all the efforts, self-discipline etc will be wasted. Hence it is first necessary for a leader to know himself and understand his needs, values, and beliefs. This is essential because this sense of clarity about what he values most also gives him the strength and ability and conviction to stick to his guns

Total Scores

Self-Awareness: __16____

Internalized Moral Perspective: __16___

Balanced Processing: ___12__

Relational Transparency: __11___

The results were as expected except for relational transparency

I scored high in Self-Awareness and Internalized Moral Perspective. It is true that I have a better understanding of myself as I also spend time in self-actualization. This helps to give me a sense of clarity and stand strong in my position.

Also, my Internalized Moral Perspective is high. I don’t let another guide my decisions much stick to or core principles

I scored low on Balanced Processing. I probably am little biased towards myself and do not want to hear to others perspectives. I may also be not open my perspectives to others. This may also be because I don’t want others top guiding my decisions much. This may result in communication barriers and misunderstanding

I also scored low in Relational Transparency. This is against my perception. I always think that I am open in my relationships. But the rest results are surprisingly opposite.

This shows I am not very open to exhibiting my true self, desires, and needs. This also leads to communication barriers. This may be because of my inability to express in an appropriate manner. I may a have to work on being more transparent and true to the way I have realized myself to be
