Explanation / Answer
The news story we have chosen for this is the firing of Andrew McCabe. He was the second in command at FBI.
This particular story refers to the attack of President Donald trump on Andrew McCabe on social media. The details can be found on CNN website with the story titled “Ex-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is fired – and fires back” dated March 17, 2018.
The particular instance we refer to here is the attack of President Donald Trump on McCabe. After the deputy director was fired by Attorney General, there was a social media post from Trump that stated
“Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of FBI – A great day for democracy. Sanctimonious James Comey was his boss and made McCabe look like a choirboy. He knew all about the lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of FBI”
This is a clear example of Ad Hominem. This attacks the credibility and character of Andrew McCabe without considering what he has to say about the situation. There has been repeated attack on social media from Trump to McCabe. Most of them are name calling and attempt at discrediting McCabe. At the end, even at his firing, the same occurrence has taken place.
