You brought up a number of modern issues with political instability and environmental regulations. These are constant changes of what seems right or wrong, acceptable or unacceptable. It certainly is a challenge leaders today experience. The effective use of resources is something I have experienced within my organization. I found many choose to develop "their way" of doing things and do not use all resources provide to them. How do you think a leader can encourage their staff use better practices?

A leader can apply effective leadership when he or she effectively communicates with the followers and employees. It is done when followers believe in the ideas, proposed by the leader and it is only possible when the leader implement the similar best practices on his own. It is the first way that can help leader motivate the employees to follow the best practices. A leader making walk the talk, can always make positive impact upon employees regarding the implementation of the best practices. The second way is implementation of contingency approach of leadership where the leader modifies the approach and method of communication while interacting with the different groups of employees. It will make employees grasp what a leader is willing to convey and employees can follow the best practices. The third way is to align implementation of best practices with performance management and reward program. For example, use of ethical conduct in business development if made as one criteria of desirable performance and subsequent increase in higher incentives, will motivate the employees to apply best practices. The next way, followed by a leader is to impart training that can bring behavioral modification to learn the benefits and apply best practices.
