The managers of the Marketing department and the Technology department have been made aware that one of their departments will be asked to cut 30% of their operating budget. How might you use your conflict management skills to gather information, speak with the two department managers, and arrive at a decision regarding cut-backs while minimizing conflict within the company? Explanation / Answer

In this situation we need to manage in such a way that the two departments do not fight . We need to discuss with the managers of those departments and prepare a sunopsis where the operations are listed from most important to least important. We can reduce budget for least important operations for time being for botht he departments equally so that conflicts will not arise. We need to explain the situation to both the departments and the emasures they need to take to help us in overcoming this situation.This will help us reduce conflicts in the company and at the same time we can implement the cut-backs as per our plan.
