Answer-

Column A

Column B

Astrocytes

Cells that help reinforce the blood-brain barrier

Ependymal cells

Cells that line the ventricles of the brain

Microglia

Cells that engage in phagocytosis in response to tissue injury

Neurolemmocytes

Cells that myelinated axons in the peripheral nervous system

Oligodendrocytes

Cells that myelinated axons in the central nervous system

Satellite cells

Glial cells found in peripheral nerve ganglia

Explanation:-

Glial cells also known as neuroglia are non- neuronal cells found in central and peripheral nervous system and do not conduct electrical impulses like neurons.

Glial cells are categorised as glial cells of central nervous system : oligodendrocytes, astrocytes, ependymal cells , microglia and glial cells of peripheral nervous system such as neurolemmocytes and satellite cells.

a) astrocytes:- These are star-shaped glial cells of central nervous system and perform a number of functions, including support of the blood-brain barrier, provision of nutrients to neurons, homeostasis and facilitation of neurotransmission.

b) Ependymal cells:- These are found only in the lining of ventricles in the brain where produce CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) and play role in neurotransmission.

c) Microglia:- These cells function as the macrophages of the central nervous system and play an important phagocytic role in removing pathogens and debris.

d) Neurolemmocytes :- These are the principal glial cells of the peripheral nervous system and myelinate axons in the peripheral nervous system.

e) Oligodendrocytes :- cells that myelinated axons of the central nervous system and provide insulation to them.

f) satellite cells:- These glial cells cover the surface of nerve cell bodies in sensory, sympathetic, and parasympathetic ganglia and found in peripheral nerve ganglia
