B. the cells receive oxygen, which in turn is received by inhalation. breathing involves inhalation and exhalation. oxygen is taken by the cells, and carbon dioxide which is released by the cells is expelled out during exhalation. therefore, breathing is the ultimate source of oxygen.
C. during breathing, oxygen and carbon dioxide enter the lungs. however, the oxygen to reach the cells, blood is required. blood has to reach lungs, where exchange of gases takes place. heart or cardiovascular system transports the blood to lungs, where oxygenation takes place, and the oxygenated blood is transported to cells. therefore, respiratory system and cardiovascular system have to function in synchrony.
