Explanation / Answer

1. Digestion of lipids start in small intestines. The bile juice secreted by liver is stored in gallbladder and then transferred to small intestines where emulsification of fat occurs.

Emulsification breaks the large fat molecules into smaller ones, which is then acted upon by lipase enzyme and broken down into fatty acids and glycerol.

In mouth only starch is broken down into simple carbohydrates like maltose by enzyme amylase present in the saliva secreted by salivary glands of mouth.

In large intestines digestion has already been completed. Only reabsorption of water takes place in small intestines.

Hence option (A) is corrected.

2. The complete digestion and absorption of fats, proteins and carbohydrates takes place in small intestines.

Large intestines have nothing to do with digestion. Only reabsorption of water takes place in small intestines.

Hence option (B) is correct.
