Question

Throughout the term we discussed the idea that some skills are controlled through feedforward mechanisms, and some through feedback. Demonstrate your knowledge of these mechanisms by: A) discussing one of the six motor skills that uses feedforward control, and giving one specific example why, B) discussing a second one of the six that uses feedback control, and give a specific example, C) discussing a third of the six movements that uses both feedforward and feedback control while giving a specific example

six motor skills are: locomotion, grasping and or reaching, speaking and or singing, keyboarding, facial expressions

Explanation / Answer

In feed forward system, the control variable adjustment is based on knowledge about the process in the form of mathematical model of a particular purpose and knowledge about or measurements of process disturbances.

A) From this the 1st example would be grasping and or reaching.

This is because, it is based on knowledge of mathematical models which are used in different types of processes.

B) 2nd example includes keyboarding.

It is a physical activity bases on operators input and by integral processing and interpretation.

C) 3rd example includes speaking and or singing which uses both feed forward and feed back control.

This is because speech motor control supports a theoretical frame work in which fundamental control variables for phenomic movements are multidimensional regions in auditory and somatosensory spaces. They include speech production, speech motor control speech perception.

Speech production is the primary mode of human communication.
