STUDIES RESPONSES MUS You are given the opportunity to do a brief interview with 65 year old man,Pepe Erector, whom you suspect has erectile dysfunction (based on some of his hints), but is embarrassed to admit. Based on your knowledge of male reproductive physiology, use a power point presentation to do the following: Slide #1-list a set of five (5) questions that you believe would elicit the most important information you would need to confirm that Mr. Erector does indeed has erectile dysfunction (ED) Slide# 2-6 Give physiological explanation for each of your choice of question. Each questions and corresponding explanati n should not exceed 100 words

Explanation / Answer

Functional Anatomy

The male reproductive system consists of testes, epididymis ,vas deferens, ejaculatory ducts, prostate, urethra, and male reproductive system . They have two important functions, spermatogenesis ( formation of spermatozoa) and ste-roidogenesis ( synthesis of testosterone). Spermatozoa produced by testes enter the epididymis from where they pass into the vas deferens. Epididymis and proximal part of vas deferens store sperms. At the time of ejaculation, sperms enter into the urethra in the body of prostate through the ejaculatory duct and via urethra they come out of the genital tract.

Physiological action:

1) changes in external genitalia:

Male reproductive system enlarge in length and width. The male reproductive part became more rugose and pigmented

2)changes in internal genitalia :

Seminal vesicles increase in size and started secrete fructose.

3) growth and distribution of body hair:

4) skin changes

5) mental changes

6) voice changes

MALE SEXUAL ACT:

IN intercourse male is the active partner .The major events of male sexual act include erection of male reproductive part penetration of male reproductive system in to the female reproductive system and ejaculation. These are the series of reflexes that are integrated in the spinal cord and mediated via autonomic and somatic nerves.

Erection

Erection occurs due to dilation of the male reproductive arterioles filling the erectile tissues of the male reproductive system by blood. The erectile tissues of male reproductive system are three in numbers. Two corpora cavernosa and a corpus spongiosum. In normal state, male reproductive system is flaccid due to paucity of blood in the spaces of these erectile tissues. Upon arousal, mainly the spaces in cavernous erectile tissue fill with blood and men's reproductive system becomesturgid. As male reproductive part are compressed by the erectile tissues filled with blood, which maintain erection
