A. Sodium following it’s electrochemical gradient B. A positive feedback loop C. A rapid change in the membrane potential causing it to become more positive D. Voltage gated Na+ channels opening E. All of the choices are correct
Explanation / Answer
Answer i iis E
Explainations
A)sodium following its electrochemical gradient
Depolarization is a electrochemical change in cell membrane due to an action potential where the internal environment of the cell membrane becomes positively charge due to shift of positive sodium ions. In normal condition the the internal environment is negatively charge due to potassium ions. But after an action potential an eleTrochemical gradient develops where there is influx of sodium and effux of potassium.
B) A positive feedback loop
A hodgkin impulse is key component of positive feedback loop.where intial depolarization leads to a certain threshold which activates more voltage gated sodium channel.opening of sodium channel causes more depolarization of cell membrane.which in turn further depolarizes the membrane.this cycle leads to very rapod rise of sodium conductance.the cycle is broken when membrane potential reaches sodium equilibrium.
C.a rapid change in membrane potential causing it to become more positive
The membrane potential inside cell membrane becomes more positive .due to influx of sodium which carries positive charge
D voltage gated na channel opening
Action potential causes depolarization which opens the voltage gated sodium channel cause more sodium influx
