Explanation / Answer

Condition 1- progeria

Cause: autosomal dominant genetic disorder

Symptoms : early ageing, the disease onsets between 9 to 24 months, growth delay, small face, hair loss, leads to death by mid teens

Treatment : no treatment has yet been developed. Treatment is usually symptomatic

Condition 2 - microcephaly

Causes : congenital like autosomal dominant, downs syndrome or acquired like ischaemic stroke, meningitis

Symptoms : small head size than normal, poor motor function, poor speech, abnormal facial features, seizures, and dwarfism, intellectual disability.

Treatment : only symptomatic and supportive treatment can be given. No cure

Condition 3 - Crohn’s disease

Cause : unknown. Environmental and immunity factors in genetically predisposed individuals is believed to be the cause.

Symptoms : abdominal pain, diarrhea, blood containing stool, flatulence, bloating, perianal discomfort and itchiness, growth defects inchildren.

Treatment: lifestyle modifications like dietary changes, exercises and walks, antibiotics,ASA5 formulation medicines, prednison, methotrixate

Condition 4 - bulemia nervosa

Cause : eating disorder. Environment and genetic causes.

Symptoms : eating too much food which is followed by induced vomitting due to fear of weight gain, oesaphagitis, chronic gastric reflux, constipation, depression

Treatment : psycotherapy and antidepressants
