Answer - Recessive traits can skip generations because of the dominant phenotype. they are produced by either a homozygous dominant genotype or a heterozygous genotype. Two heterozygous individuals will have the dominant phenotype for a trait, but since they have a recessive allele, they both can pass a recessive allele to their offspring, producing a homozygous recessive offspring with a recessive phenotype.
