Plasma cells are fully differentiated B-lymphocyte (white blood cell) which produces a single type of antibody. After formation in the bone marrow these cells goes to the germinal centre of lymph nodes for maturation and a fully mature B lymphocyte is mostly retained in the medullary cord of lymph node. Medullary cord is a portion of the medulla of the lymph node which contains lymphatic tissue and project into the medullary sinus. B cells and plasma cells are the main cell types found in the medullary cords.
